Welcome to SoundScribe ("the App"), a mobile application developed by Everyday App ("we," "us," or "our").
SoundScribe is designed to help users record, import, and transcribe audio using on-device speech recognition.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle information.
Information We Collect
Audio Recordings and Files
- SoundScribe accesses your device's microphone to record audio for transcription.
- You may also import audio files from your device's file system.
- All audio recordings and imported files are stored locally on your device.
- We do not upload, transmit, or store your audio on any external servers.
- All speech recognition and transcription processing occurs on your device using Apple's built-in speech
framework.
AI Summary Feature
- The AI Summary feature sends your transcription text to a third-party AI service (Groq) for processing.
- Only the text of the transcription is sent — no audio files, personal information, or device identifiers are
transmitted.
- We do not store your transcription text on any server. The text is sent for processing and the summary is
returned to your device.
- Generated summaries are stored locally on your device.
Transcription History and Data
- The app stores your recording history, transcriptions, and summaries locally on your device.
- This includes audio file names, transcription text, timestamps, and duration.
- This data is stored using your device's local storage and is not transmitted to any external servers (except
as noted for the AI Summary feature).
App Preferences
- Your app settings (such as theme preference, language selection, and display preferences) are stored locally
on your device.
Information We Do NOT Collect
SoundScribe does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal identification information (name, email, address)
- Location data
- Analytics or usage data
- User accounts or login credentials
How We Use Your Information
All data processing occurs locally on your device (except AI summaries) for the following purposes:
- Recording and storing audio for transcription
- Transcribing audio using on-device speech recognition
- Generating AI-powered summaries of your transcriptions (via Groq API)
- Tracking your transcription history
- Saving your app preferences
Data Storage and Security
- All app data (audio, transcriptions, summaries) is stored locally on your device.
- Data is protected by your device's built-in security features.
- We do not have access to any of your locally stored data.
- Uninstalling the app will delete all locally stored data.
In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
The App offers optional premium subscriptions (weekly, monthly, and yearly) through Apple's In-App Purchase
system. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect, store, or have access to your
payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID credentials.
Third-Party Services
SoundScribe uses the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob: The app may display advertisements through Google AdMob for free users. AdMob
may collect certain device information such as device identifiers, coarse location, product interaction data,
crash data, and performance data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Premium subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience.
- Groq API: The AI Summary feature sends transcription text to Groq's servers for processing.
No personal information or device identifiers are included in these requests. See Groq's Privacy Policy for more
information.
Children's Privacy
SoundScribe does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The app is a
general utility tool that does not require any personal information to function.
Your Rights and Choices
Managing Your Data
- You can delete individual recordings or clear all data within the app's Settings.
- You can revoke microphone and file access permissions at any time through your device's Settings app.
- Uninstalling the app removes all associated data from your device.
Permissions
- Microphone: Required to record audio for transcription. You can deny or revoke this
permission in Settings.
- Speech Recognition: Required for on-device transcription of audio. You can deny or revoke
this permission in Settings.
- File Access: Required to import audio files for transcription. You can deny or revoke this
permission in Settings.
Advertising Preferences
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device's tracking settings (Settings → Privacy
& Security → Tracking).
- Upgrading to a premium subscription removes all advertisements.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new
Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy
periodically for any changes.
